The Digital Future of Cleaning Starts Now

Of all the business operations disrupted by the current economic challenges, cleaning has arguably felt the biggest impact. Cleaning standards in every environment, both private and public, are higher than they’ve ever been, and the evidence suggests they will remain high in the long-term. At the same time, the labor shortages that have always plagued the cleaning industry have become more acute, and many businesses are still struggling to recover financially.

The convergence of these factors has created a perfect storm for any organization where cleaning plays a central role -- from business service contractors and their clients to companies of all sizes that run their own internal cleaning operations. To successfully navigate this storm, these organizations will need to optimize their cleaning processes to increase productivity and efficiency while decreasing their overall cleaning costs.

The key to achieving this goal is digital innovation -- not just tech bells and whistles, but tools that allow you to make data-driven decisions that will have a real and measurable impact on your business.

Introducing Nilfisk Connectivity: A Next-Generation Business Intelligence Platform for Cleaning Fleet Optimization

Nilfisk started the conversation around connected cleaning machines in 2011, when the business implications of the Internet of Things (IoT) was first starting to be discussed. While various digital tools have been developed over the past decade, the cleaning industry has been slow to adopt them because it has been difficult to draw a clear line between the use of the technologies and bottom-line results. Often the technologies provided plenty of data, but not the analytics needed to turn the data into insights. Without the ability to make it actionable, data is just numbers.

That’s why we built Nilfisk Connectivity.

This new offering is more than a cleaning fleet management tool. We surveyed our customers to learn what types of insights they needed to make better decisions for their business. We asked how they wanted to access, customize, and visualize their data. Based on those discussions, we built a next-generation business intelligence platform to help you optimize your cleaning operations by providing real-time, actionable information about every machine in your cleaning fleet.

How Nilfisk Connectivity works

Nilfisk Connectivity uses a state-of-the-art IoT module that transfers data from individual cleaning machines to the cloud. There, the data are processed and standardized into customizable dashboards, which you can access via a flexible, intuitive user interface.

Many of Nilfisk’s floorcare machines are already equipped to accept this plug-and-play IoT module, so if you have one of our newest pieces of equipment, you can start collecting data right away. For other machines, retrofitting kits are available. You can even track non-Nilfisk equipment using the platform, which provides a high level of observability and transparency across your entire organization, no matter what equipment you use.

Using the data to optimize your operations

Nilfisk Connectivity is accessible via a smartphone app and a web portal. Together, these interfaces provide micro and macro insights to facilitate data-driven decisions at all levels of your organization.

Onsite operators and supervisors can use the app to maximize day-to-day productivity by accessing real-time updates about cleaning activities and machine status and performance. Managers and administrators can use the web portal to gain a high-level picture of an entire fleet, track performance against KPIs using customized dashboards, and make strategic decisions about cleaning schedules, fleet utilization, maintenance activities, and more.

Here are some examples of productivity-boosting and cost-saving decisions Nilfisk Connectivity can help you make:

  • Where to deploy your cleaning fleet for maximum productivity across sites
  • How to arrange your cleaning schedule so machines don’t sit idle when they could be working
  • When to perform service and maintenance for minimal downtime

In addition, the documentation and reporting functions help ensure you achieve contract compliance and give you the information you need to control your cleaning costs.

The digital revolution of the cleaning industry is no longer on some distant horizon. It’s here. Nilfisk Connectivity puts the tools you need to transform your business into the palm of your hand.
