Beaches Logistics operates a warehousing-and-distribution site in Carlisle, and the high-traffic, 3700 m2 facility closes nightly for just 5 hours. To ensure its restoration to a pristine condition on a tight schedule, Bryan Jones, the Operations Manager, asked Nilfisk to provide the best equipment for the job.
MAXIMIZING CLEANING EFFICIENCY
"Beaches Logistics had only five hours to clean a 3,700m2 facility – every night – and that kind of challenge called for cleaning performance that only Nilfisk could provide."
OBSTACLES AT EVERY TURN
In addition to distribution, the site also offered customer storage, making cleaning a frequent requirement.
With many trees surrounding the facility, the removal of leaves before they became an indoor slip risk was key. The interior of the facility had an issue with shrink wrap, pallet blocks, splinters, and loose pallet straps, as well. Forklifts often drove straight over discarded materials, resulting in impellor damage that led to repair costs and critical downtime.
Dust, debris, and leaves posed risks to products, transport equipment, and the bottom line. Solutions would have to withstand rigorous daily use, diesel-powered cleaning equipment was out of the question, and cleaning would need to be performed both indoors and outside. The chosen solution had to be durable, quality equipment, so Nilfisk proposed the LPG-powered SW5500 Ride-on Sweeper, resulting in a quantum leap for Beaches Logistics.
PARTNERING UP FOR LONG-TERM SUCCESS
According to Mr. Jones, “It was immediately clear that the machine was very efficient and so easy to drive, the staff were fighting over the opportunity to put it through its paces!
Indoors or outdoors, it did the job with ease, providing daily cleaning within the facility and external sweeping once or twice a week.”
Mr. Jones paired his SW5500 with a Nilfisk Premium service contract, amounting to a price in line with his budget. The result was a solution that delivered from one day to the next, and will continue to do so.
